I have no shame in admitting that I am addicted to Buzzfeed. Who else here thinks that Buzzfeed’s articles are just so entertaining and addicting? ? They have stuff about anything and everything, even great stuff for foodies like me! I recently read an article on their website that described how to make a spiderweb pattern on brownies and knew I had to make them as well; the brownies are too cute not to make! Spooky Spiderweb Brownie Slices are just the PERFECT Halloween treat!
I am always on the hunt for a good brownie recipe, but the best one I have tried so far is this deliciously moist, dense and chocolatey from Smitten Kitchen ?. I have modified the recipe slightly by reducing the sugar and adding some coffee powder, but otherwise, the recipe is killer 🙂
Pictured above and below are the steps I took to get the spiderweb effect 🙂 The chocolate glaze is just a simple ganache that I made pouring hot cream over some milk chocolate chips; the white icing is a combination of powdered sugar and heavy cream with a drop of vanilla.
The chocolate ganache was made by pouring half a cup of hot cream over 4 ounces of milk chocolate chips, then stirring it all together after a few minutes of waiting 🙂 The white frosting used to create the spiderweb effect is made by combining 1/3 cup powdered sugar with 1-2 tsp of heavy cream until the icing reached a runny-ish consistency (slightly runnier than toothpaste).
The presentation of these brownies are wonderful and they look so impressive! I’ve actually tried to make spiderweb cupcakes when I was younger but it was a total fail… The icing fell right off the cupcake… Anyways, the recipe for the brownies can be found on Smitten Kitchen, so please check it out! I reduced the sugar to 3/4 of a cup and then added a teaspoon of instant coffee powder for good measure 🙂
