Hello all and guess what? There are like, 8 days until Christmas…
I love love LOVE the holiday season and when Christmas is over and I see all the holiday items on sale in stores, I can’t help but feel a bit melancholy and empty… post-Christmas depression, I swear it’s a thing…
But let’s not talk about that right now as Christmas hasn’t even hit us yet. Today, I would like to share with you this scrumptious afternoon snack, sweet breakfast treat, or simple entertaining dessert. Now I know some people think buying pre-made foods a sin, however, I do not have time to be rolling out my own danish pastry dough everyday and I’m sure most people don’t either. (aintnobodygottimeforthat)
During the holiday season, pillsbury products are always on sale at Wal-Mart, so my mom goes to town whenever she sees these products on sale… I can’t blame her, there are just so many ways to use these crescents!
The recipe is originally from the Pillsbury website, but I have made modifications to the recipe to suit my family’s taste preferences. The original recipe did not have enough jam filling and had too much cream cheese filling in my opinion; also, I usually can make 10 of these Jam and Cream Cheese filled danishes, not 8… the more the merrier, right? I also changed the shaping process to make it easier and quicker to prepare.
I know that if I make these, they will be gone in 24 hours; however, I don’t usually make a double batch because I think they taste best when fresh. Below is a photo of the three star ingredients needed to make this recipe! You can use ANY jam and they will taste fabulous; I have used homemade jam and cranberry sauce in here before, all with great results. In addition to these ingredients, you will need a spoonful or two of sugar and a squeeze of lemon, not pictured here.
Enjoy this fast and time-saving holiday treat (or anytime treat ?)
-Angela
- 1 can of Pillsbury crescent dough (or other brands)
- ¼ pkg of softened cream cheese
- 1 tbsp granulated sugar
- A squeeze of lemon
- ⅓ cup of your favorite jam
- Preheat the oven to 350 F.
- Mix together the cream cheese, sugar and lemon juice in a bowl until smooth and set aside.
- Take the crescent dough out of the tube, still keeping it in a log shape. Cut the crescent dough log into 10 even slices and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Use your thumb to make an indentation in the middle of each slice.
- Evenly spoon the cream cheese into the well of each crescent roll slice, then spoon the jam of your choice on top of the cream cheese mixture.
- Bake in the oven for 18-22 minutes, until the tops are golden brown and the jam is bubbling. Cool for 5-10 minutes and serve.

If I made these, I would have to fight the rest of my family to get to them first. Hmm… sounds like entertainment for the holidays… My favorite jam is the Bonne Maman, but my wife’s if actually the one you have in your picture. 🙂

Wow, I love Bonne Maman as well! My mom’s favorite is the one I used in the recipe, heehee 🙂

I already told you that I love these danishes! Easy, simple and so yummy! I like them fresh, too and I prefer your version with the addition of jam and a little less cream cheese!

Such a sweetheart, thank you Nicoletta 🙂

I love easy recipes that use shortcut ingredients but are still delicious and festive. I actually have never used Pilsbury dough. It might be time to try.

Definitely a time-saver!
