The day after a fun night out, my friends and I took a journey together to the famous Aran Islands, located in Ireland’s Connacht province. The journey from Galway to Inishmore took nearly two hours, but boy was it worth it.
The Aran Islands are comprised of three little islands, Inishmore, Inishmaan and Inisheer. Inishmore is home to less than 1000 residents, yet it is the largest of the three islands!
There were some shuttle buses near the island’s ferry dock who asked us if we wanted to take a bus tour around the island, but we declined all the offers. We decided to walk the perimeter of the entire island instead. The Island Walk
The decision to walk instead of take a shuttle was ultimately a good one. It got us moving and allowed us to explore the island at our own pace. The walk around Inishmore took us about 5 hours to complete, which was a bit tiring but still a wonderful experience.
We walked past fields and fields of lush green meadows and secluded pastures; plus, we saw quaint cottages and the beautiful sea that stretched on and on. Isn’t Mother Nature amazing?
Next time I visit Ireland, I must explore the two smaller Aran Islands, I bet they’re just as beautiful.
